Watch out, Christmas is coming….

Christmas, love it or hate it you can’t ignore it.  M&S Christmas bags are all around, the Christmas sandwiches are in-store (hurrah), the red coffee cups are back and more of Leadenhall market’s Christmas decorations are appearing each morning.

So when this morning I announced, much to the irritation of my fellow colleagues, that following a successful evening on-line I had completed the majority of my Christmas shopping, the groans were audible across the office.  I took the opportunity (pressure of shopping lifted) to sit back and look forward to the festivities.

Ten minutes with our new starter Kaitlin Bergan

Here is another new face on the PR team. Kaitlin Bergan has joined us as a PR Executive, straight from finishing her Masters at LSE. We managed to take 10 minutes out of Kaitlin’s busy schedule to find out all about her.

1.      What brought you to FWD PR?

I was actually interviewing for jobs in financial marketing, which I worked in previously, but then came across FWD through a recruiter and decided financial PR might be even more interesting.  And several weeks in I can happily say my instincts were right!

My first week working agency-side

After 5 years of working in in-house PR (most of which were government agencies) I wanted to make the move to a PR agency. As much as I enjoyed working in-house I had always wanted the opportunity to work agency-side. Working in a PR agency allows you to work on a number of accounts which makes the work varied and exciting. Also working in an environment where everyone works in PR, as opposed to being in a small in-house team, is hugely beneficial as you can throw ideas at one another and learn from your colleagues.

Being an intern at FWD

It was hard to fall asleep before my first day at FWD and I got to the office stressed and not really knowing what to expect! Looking back on it, I could not have expected better!

Everyone at FWD is nice, welcoming and very patient! Every member of the team took time to explain me how the company worked, what PR is and how FWD deals with its clients. I was taught how to monitor press releases written for clients, prepare media monitoring packs and I even had a few attempts at writing a press release under the supervision of Adrian Beeby.  Yelena explained to me the role of PR agencies and the differences between various types of newspapers and magazines. Pre Monte Carlo

So, back to Monte Carlo for the Reinsurance Rendezvous on Sunday; a place I will happily and unapologetically admit to being blown away by on my first visit last year.  This year’s Rendezvous will see more journalists, more daily bulletins and more editorial output than ever before, as circulating the thoughts of the industry’s senior executives has become a valuable business in its own right. FWD PR’s Monte Carlo packing list

It’s that time of year again! As the British summer fades into a rather damp autumn, insurance and reinsurance executives get a chance to top up their tans at the Monte Carlo Reinsurance Rendez-Vous, the start of the year’s reinsurance price-setting process. With the proceedings due to kick off in Monaco this Sunday, the foreign exchanges along Leadenhall Street have been full of underwriters tutting at the poor sterling-euro exchange rate while comparing hotel and flight bookings.

The FWD PR team are regularly attendees – and being the community-minded souls we are, we wanted to share with you our tips for packing your suitcase, should you be lucky enough to be joining the fray in the Café de Paris or the Hermitage. So with no further ado, here are our top tips for your Rendez-Vous luggage. Read More…
